Scales of Density

Seattle marked the beginning of my approach to exploring urban spaces with the goal of abstracting architectural forms beyond recognizable buildings. A key component is removing context, which in cities most commonly means avoiding street level. The abstract-like images below also begin to demonstrate scales of density when looking at individual buildings and entire blocks. My photographs are intentionally devoid of humans, but the human scale is present in their absence. This trip informed how I approach photographing architecture and explore urban spaces.

Nature has a presence in Seattle more than most cities can offer. This trip also gave me the opportunity to explore the relationship between nature and the built environment.
